"I started singing as a small child
and I'm not sure I've ever stopped.
It's a great source of joy for me and the thing in life I believe I do
well, though this took some work (the believing part).
My family sang, we didn't perform. It was an around the house or in
the car kind of thing: passing time, washing dishes.
I started singing in church when I was 12 or 13, I guess. At 18 I
met some people that had a family bluegrass band and have sung with them
off and on since. Otherwise it was in the living room or at church.
That was the bulk of my singing experience until the summer of 1999 when
I started singing with a bluegrass band in Chicago, Whiskey Hollow.
Many friends have been made and many opportunities, including
teaching at the Old Town School of Folk Music".

The next session at the Old Town School is starting again soon
and Rita will
be teaching “Desperate Love Songs”. Sign up early! Old Town School
Apologies! Steves computer crashed and he has
not updated anything in a long while. But he will soon. Check back soon for updates and gigs.
